JAMAICA Yellow Pages/Global Directories Ltd partnered with the National Council for Senior Citizens for the third successive year to stage the annual Christmas Treat for senior citizens.

A celebration of seniors’ birthdays from July to December, the treat was held at the council’s West King’s House Road location and saw the seniors receiving meals, clothing and toiletries.

Jamaica Yellow Pages staff also played games with the elderly, which brought bright smiles to their faces.

“Our staff members have made this contribution from their pockets and that is very commendable,” said Arlene Smith, human resource manager at Jamaica Yellow Pages/Global Directories Ltd. “When we came here in 2010, we all agreed that the seniors reminded us of our parents and grandparents and the value of having the elderly around, and we want to cherish them and treat them like family.”

Lester Garnett, Jamaica manager at Jamaica Yellow Pages/Global Directories Ltd, noted that the treat had become a special event on the company’s calendar.

“We are proud of this chance to cater to our seniors,” he said. “They certainly deserve to be treated with love, dignity and respect, and our staff have delivered on their commitment to ensuring that their Christmas is brighter through our donation.”

Charmaine Muirhead, executive director for the council, expressed appreciation to Jamaica Yellow Pages for their contribution to the success of the day’s event.

“It’s easy to give, but the staff have come here to serve and to participate in the day’s activities, so we want to thank the Yellow Pages for their role in making this an event to remember,” said Muirhead.

Jamaica Yellow Pages partnered with Pure Country, World Brands Services and Catherine’s Peak to allay finances for the treat, and Smith promised that her team will be on board to celebrate with the seniors next year.
