David Lawrence Wibbelsman
July 23, 1936- August 22, 2017 Former Danville, CA Resident
Dave was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and was one of four sons born to Wibbs and Jean Wibbelsman. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Barbara Jean, their son Larry and daughter Diane. Larry’s wife Roseanne, their family Drew, Jessie and Emorie, DJ, Summer and Autumn, Cole and Shane. Diane’s husband Paul, their family Tyler, Amanda and Harper, Bryce, Chase and Aly. Dave is also survived by his brothers Dick (Judy) and Bob (Nancy) and their families.
Dave was raised primarily on the East Coast where he attended High School at Christian Brothers Academy achieving the rank of Captain Cadet. He then went on and obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Johns Hopkins University.
Following graduation, Dave went to work for the telephone company and enjoyed a successful career for over 37 years. During his time with the phone company, Dave had the opportunity to attend graduate seminars at Wharton, Stanford and Harvard. He worked in an executive management capacity and enjoyed many years of companionship with his co-workers. Dave and Barbara relocated many times throughout his career. He very much valued his career and the many close friends and associates with whom he worked.
Dave received industry recognition, including being named President of the National Yellow Pages Association. He was an active sportsman with a life-long love of sailing and golfing. He remained very active post retirement, with business consulting and traveling. Dave and Barbara traveled extensively in retirement, visiting many countries and interesting places throughout the world.
Dave greatly valued his faith, marriage, family and career. A celebration of David’s life will be held on October 14th at 11 AM at St. Joan of Arc, San Ramon. Dave’s wishes are that you would honor your favorite charity in his name.
