The Association of Directory Publishers (ADP) has bestowed its highest distinction on Joe Walsh, CEO of Yellow Book USA and a past chairman of the Association.
Presentation of The Wil Lewis Award, named in honor of the late Wilbur Lewis, founder of White Directory Publishers and three-time past ADP chairman, to Walsh took place at the Gold Book Dinner and Awards Ceremony concluding ADP’s recent Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida. The award, established in 1993, recognizes outstanding lifetime contributions to the directory publishing industry and/or to the effectiveness of the Association.
“What makes The Wil Lewis Award so prestigious is that it is bestowed not annually, but rather only when a nominee exceeds the lofty threshold set by Wil Lewis himself in the judgment of a minimum of 75% of the sitting Directors of the Association,” said Larry Angove, ADP President & Chief Executive Officer. “Joe is only the tenth recipient of this honor.”
In presenting the award to Walsh together with ADP Board Chairman Sieg Fischer, President of Valley Yellow Pages, Angove shared the comments of two long-time ADP leaders who nominated Walsh for consideration.
One wrote that “Joe has been a major supporter and leader of ADP in times both good and not so good...He has devoted hundreds of hours of his personal time and has volunteered the resources of his company in support of those efforts…We could not make a better choice for The Wil Lewis Award.”
The other noted that “Joe has been steadfast in his support of the Association and the independent publishing industry throughout the years…Nothing should stand in the way of Joe Walsh receiving this prestigious award.”
The Association of Directory Publishers, founded in 1898, is the oldest trade association in North America continuously serving the interests of telephone directory publishers and the suppliers who provide products and services to the industry.
